Vivo X80 series may feature Dimensity 9000 SoC & Custom Image chip

The Vivo X80 series launch is expected to be just around the corner. The company is reportedly planning on launching the new smartphones later this month in China, but prior to its release, a new report has surfaced that reveals some of its key specifications.

Previously, we had reported on a Geekbench listing on a smartphone that carried the model number V2145. This handset was believed to be the Vivo X80 Pro+ model, which featured Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC on the benchmarking platform. But now, known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the lineup will be powered by MediaTek’s latest and greatest Dimensity 9000 processors.

As of right now, it is unclear if the top end X80 Pro+ model will be the sole version to feature the flagship Qualcomm chipset. However, the tipster also shared an image on the Chinese microblogging website that showcased the device running on Dimensity 9000 SoC alongside a custom made image processing chip as well. This imaging chip was reportedly developed in house and is a flagship grade custom image chip that will enhance the photography experience on the upcoming smartphones.

Digital Chat Station added that this custom chip will improve the amount of light that reaches the sensor by a significant amount. Furthermore, he believes that the Vivo X80 Pro series will have a proprietary ISP + RGBW sensor with a large f/1.57 aperture. Unfortunately, this is all the information he shared regarding this device at the moment. But keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stick around for more updates.
